Tips on how to look good in your portraits (for the ladies)

1. Wear clothes that fit. Yes, I know this sounds obvious, but it makes a difference.

Get a friend to help you pick out what to bring. I find my friends are honest and will

tell you when you look good!

2. Wear a bit more make-up than usual. Even better... Start with light make-up and

then add more in between changes so that it looks like many different sessions.

3. Remember that images can be retouched so DO NOT PANIC if you wake up on

portrait day with a pimple or a new wrinkle. We can deal with this!

4. Shoe shoe shoes! Heels are so important for pin up or intimate shots! Ladies, there

is a reason that you see women wearing high heels and a bathing suit in
magazines!

Heels make your calves look muscular and you look taller and THINNER!

5. Hair.....I always think it is better to do it yourself as you will be happy with it and

you won't be mad when I mess it up to get a bed-head look! (Yes I will). If you do

want to go for a pin up look, I then would suggest getting it done. However,

remember that if you do not like your hair do, it doesn't matter how great your

portraits are, you won't like them. Try a dry run at the salon if you are unsure if you

will like it.

6. Nails are important. If your are having portraits taken you want to look your best.

Have a friend give you a manicure and a pedicure before you come to the studio.

It feels great to have this done and you will feel SEXIER!

7. Black is slimming and also dramatic.It looks beautiful for low key (dark background)

shots. Also bring light clothes for high key (light coloured background) shots. Pick

colours that excite you and you feel pretty in.

8. Do not forget jewellrey! If in doubt bring it all. We will help you to decide what looks

good with which outfit and it will make you feel girly.

9. Props. If you are sporty or he likes sports, bring the gear and be photographed in it.

You can bring in any props you like and this will make the portraits unique as well as

fun! Some suggestions are bubble gum, flowers, candy, chocolates, a parasol, his

clothes or special jacket ect.

10.This is the most important. Have fun. If you relax, and trust that we will find your

best angles.(yes that is what it is all about) Everyone can look like a celebrity if

they have the right attitude. We will pose you and direct so know that it will be a

cool experience and one I think all women should have. Who doesn't want to feel

sexy?

Now I want a scooter too...

The last couple of weeks have been amazing and the sessions have been alot of fun! Debra and I are loving the new light rails that are now installed and enjoying the great shooting weather. Two of my dearest friends came over for the long weekend and has just moved home from Yellowknife. My husband and I took them to Friends for dinner and the meal was out of this world! Welcome home Simone, Liz, and baby Belle!

On Sunday I did a portrait session for one of our next years groom's as a gift for his Fiance'. These are my favorite images from his session! He brought his new scooter for the session. What a cool prop

A sneek Peek at the new Digs!

We are still settling in and we are about to put up light rails on the ceiling to hold my studio lighting. We also have some new backgrounds coming from the states and we are excited! Thanks again to all our returning clients for their patience in yet another move... but this time it is permanent and we will be customising the space over time!

Our Bridal Couples get a complimentary Engagement Session!

Here are three of our wedding clients that are getting married this year. I like to have an engagement session prior to the big day to act as a dress rehearsal for the wedding day portrait session and to get to know them better. I feel the most important thing about wedding photography is TRUST. Our pre-wedding session allows our clients to form a bond with us and to see what we can do. On the day of their wedding, we become flies on the wall and the least concern. We want to help make the wedding day seemless and relaxed. (With a little awsomeness thrown in for good measure.)

Babies....Babies...Babies!

One of my favorite types of sessions is family. Especially with BABIES! Here is a peek at a recent portrait session I did with a wonderful couple and their little girl.

Here are a few favorites from another baby session that made me want to have another child myself. (I am sure my husband just got a shiver down his spine!)

Well.... This week has been great! Three Grad shoots, one engagement, headshots and two Artisitc Intimate Sessions. And we still found time to move! We are officially in the new studio, however I anticipate it taking a couple of days to sort everything out. Here are my favorites from the Prom session.

Aurora Photography is Moving!!!

Welcome.... I have finally succumbed to technology and am embracing this century! I will frequently be adding recent work, mention upcoming events and some occasional personal tidbits.

We are moving our studio to a permanent location! We will be at 3465 Planta Rd. as of May 1st!

I will be posting images of the new studio once we are settled.
